One person died and three other people were injured in a shooting late Tuesday night inside a bar in downtown Minneapolis.

It happened just before midnight on Fourth Street, about a block east of the federal courthouse and Minneapolis City Hall. Police did not name the bar where the shooting happened, but KARE 11 reported that investigators spent hours working and collecting evidence outside Bar Zia.

A 21-year-old man died at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds. Another man and two women were taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

“This senseless violence is heartbreaking and unacceptable,” Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said in a police department news release.

Minneapolis police said the shooting happened after an altercation inside a bar.

Officers responding to reports of the shooting “encountered a large, unruly crowd involved in physical altercations,” police said in the news release. Officers from other precincts and deputies from the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene.

One person was arrested at the scene for allegedly obstructing officers. There have been no arrests reported in connection with the shooting.

Minneapolis police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact the department.
