Buses replacing Green Line trains in St. Paul for 10 days

Green Line light rail trains in St. Paul will be replaced with buses for 10 days, starting Friday night.

Metro Transit said that major service change will affect Green Line trains between the Raymond Avenue and Union Depot stations — more than a dozen stations in all. The light rail line will continue operating as usual between the Raymond Avenue station and downtown Minneapolis.

The closure of the line through St. Paul will run through 4 a.m. on Monday, July 21.

The agency said the shutdown will allow crews to complete maintenance work along the line, including replacing sections of track.

The closure will affect people planning to use the Green Line to get to Minnesota United home games at Allianz Field on Saturday and next Wednesday — as well as people going to the Minnesota Yacht Club music festival that’s expected to draw thousands to Harriet Island later this month.

While replacement buses will run between Green Line stations during the light rail closure, Metro Transit said riders can also use other bus routes between St. Paul and Minneapolis — including the new B Line bus rapid transit route.
