A hit-and-run crash early Monday seriously injured a pedestrian and a cyclist in Minneapolis. Authorities are searching for the driver.

Minneapolis police said it happened just after midnight along East Lake Street between Fourth and Fifth Avenues South, a few blocks east of Interstate 35W.

Police said the initial investigation found that a blue SUV was traveling east in the westbound lanes when it hit the cyclist traveling in the bicycle lane, then hit the pedestrian crossing Lake Street.

The SUV did not stop. Police said the two men who were hit suffered potentially life-threatening injuries.

Authorities have not released their names, or further information about the suspect vehicle.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact Minneapolis police at (612) 673-5845, or email policetips@minneapolismn.gov. Tips can also be made anonymously through CrimeStoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.

The crash happened less than a week after a separate hit-and-run crash in Eden Prairie that injured a woman and two of her young children. They were in a crosswalk last Thursday evening when they were hit by a white sedan; one of the children suffered critical injuries.

Eden Prairie police have not announced any arrests in that case.
