Iran: No justification for continuing nuclear negotiations with the US
6/14/2025
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi announced on Saturday the cancellation of nuclear negotiations with Iran, stressing that they are "unjustified."
Araghchi said in press statements: Continuing nuclear talks between Iran and the United States is unjustified while Israel's barbaric attacks continue.
He added, "The IAEA Board of Governors' decision has become a pretext for the Zionist entity to attack our nuclear facilities," stating, "We call on all countries to condemn these criminal acts and pressure the occupation to halt its aggression."
He pointed out that "attacking our nuclear facilities is illegal, and the international community must hold the Israeli entity accountable for this," calling on "the European Union and the UN Security Council to take a responsible stance against the occupation's attacks on our lands."
As Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said in a statement ahead of the talks scheduled for Sunday, "It is clear that under such circumstances, and until the Zionist regime's aggression against the Iranian nation stops, engaging in dialogue with a party that is the aggressor's biggest supporter and partner is meaningless."
The Iranian parliament revealed on Saturday that it is seriously considering closing the Strait of Hormuz, which is responsible for a significant portion of the world's oil shipments.
Reuters quoted an Iranian parliament member as saying: "We are seriously considering closing the Strait of Hormuz."
Brigadier General Esmail Kowsari of the Iranian Armed Forces also announced that "closing the Strait of Hormuz is under consideration, and we will make the appropriate decision with all firmness."
Iran's Fars News Agency reported that Nojeh Air Base in Hamadan was subjected to two missile attacks, while Iranian media reported five explosions in the city of Tabriz, confirming that the Tabriz refinery is still operating normally and that the circulating news about it being targeted is false .
Iranian media reported earlier on Saturday that a series of Israeli attacks targeted sensitive military and nuclear sites in several Iranian provinces .
A short while ago, Iranian media reported violent explosions in several Iranian cities, including Tabriz, Khorramabad, and Kermanshah.
