Wednesday’s shooting at the Church of Annunciation in Minneapolis has sent shockwaves through the country as the small school community mourns the loss of two children, ages 8 and 10.
Another 18 were injured in the mass shooting, which happened during a morning Mass marking the first week of class at Annunciation Catholic School. Fifteen of the injured were children, ages 6 to 15.
On Thursday morning, Hennepin County Medical Center officials said nine victims remain hospitalized at the hospital — one adult and one child were in serious condition, and one child remained in critical condition.
Children’s Minnesota also has three children hospitalized as of Thursday morning; four others were treated and released on Wednesday.
Since the shooting, the Annunciation community has received an outpouring of support from across the country from people who want to help in the aftermath of the tragedy.
Here are some ways to support victims and their families.
Visit memorial for shooting victims
A memorial has been dedicated to the victims of the mass shooting at Annunciation Catholic School, on the corner of Lyndale Ave. S and W 54th St. People have been visiting the site with flowers and messages to pay their respects to the two children who died in the shooting and all who were affected.

‘Critical blood shortage’: HCMC calls on public for blood donations
HCMC says Minnesota has a critical blood shortage is urging the public to donate blood.
“I implore everybody that’s available to please donate blood so we have it available for sick, trauma patients and other people that need emergent blood. There’s a critical shortage and we have a few days on hand in the entire state,” said Aaron Robinson, Assistant Medical Director at Hennepin EMS.
The American Red Cross and Memorial Blood Centers are currently accepting blood donations.

Donate to families of shooting victims
Local nonprofits have also set up funds to support victims of the shooting. The Minneapolis Foundation is running a text-to-donate line to gather donations and will work with the Annunciation community to distribute the funds.
The public is directed to text “ACF1” to 41444.
The Catholic Community Foundation of Minnesota has also established the Annunciation Hope and Healing Fund. The donations will provide financial support for the church, as well as those affected by the shooting.
Foundation president Anne Cullen Miller says the nonprofit will take on the work of processing donations and freeing parish staff at Annunciation to focus on “what matters most right now: its mission and ministries.”
“Principal Matt DeBouer urged us to act,” she said. “He asked us to pray and to keep moving into action to support the Annunciation community. The Annunciation Hope and Healing Fund offers us one way to act and support the children, families, teachers, staff, and worshipers affected by senseless violence.”
