The Department of Housing and Urban Development announced that nearly $29 million will be awarded to tribes in Minnesota for funding affordable housing in Native communities.

“From day one, HUD has been engaged on alleviating affordable housing challenges facing urban, rural, and Tribal communities,” Secretary Scott Turner said in a statement.

Funding comes from the Indian Housing Block Grant program, which helps to provide housing development, updates to existing housing, services to eligible families and individuals and crime prevention and safety to Native nations across the United States.
