Iraq faces a significant challenge from the declining water levels of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, driven by multiple factors including climate change, President Abdul Latif Rashid said during his address at the Third United Nations Ocean Conference in France.
He emphasized that the reduced water inflows from upstream countries have contributed to a rise in internal and external displacement and a sharp decline in agriculture’s contribution to Iraq’s GDP.
