Minneapolis police are investigating after a person was shot and killed Wednesday in the city's Elliot Park neighborhood.
Police responded to the 1500 block of 11th Avenue South around 6:30 p.m., on a report of a shooting. They found a man in his 30s on the porch of a residence, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Officers and emergency medical staff provided aid, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police Chief Brian O'Hara told KSTP that police believe the shooter and the victim knew each other.
“The investigation is in its preliminary stages, however the information that we have indicates that there was an altercation between a group of individuals that were on the sidewalk. At some point that altercation escalated and an individual pulled out a gun and gunfire resulted,” O’Hara said Wednesday night.
O'Hara said police are reviewing footage from cameras near the scene and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
