Powerful storms swept across the state on Sunday night and early Monday morning, knocking out power to tens of thousands of people and causing downed trees, flooding and other damage.
Xcel Energy crews are still working to restore power to about 38,000 people as of 6 a.m. Monday. The company said at around 9:30 p.m. Sunday, it was working to restore power to about 74,000 Minnesota customers. The majority of outages are in the Twin Cities metro area.
North Minneapolis residents reported downed trees on social media.
Parts of Minnesota could be hit by more storms Monday. The National Weather Service reports more storms are possible in eastern South Dakota late Monday afternoon and are expected to move into southern Minnesota and northern Iowa.
Wind gusts higher than 75 mph, a few line-embedded tornadoes and instances of severe hail are also probable, according to the Storm Prediction Center.
