A police officer in Plymouth shot and wounded a man after responding a domestic disturbance call early Tuesday.
The wounded man was taken to a hospital, and was in stable condition at last report. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating the shooting.
Plymouth police said the shooting happened just after 4:30 a.m. on the 6100 block of Quinwood Lane North, just east of Interstate 494.
According to a police account of what happened, officers were called to a report of a man knocking on a window at a residence. A responding officer found the man in a parking lot — and police said the man had a handgun. The officer shot the man.
Authorities didn’t release further details on what prompted the officer to fire. The officer was not physically injured, and is on standard critical incident leave.
The names of those involved have not been released, and police did not say whether there was body camera footage of the incident. The BCA said its investigators were at the scene Tuesday morning.
