The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating after two people were injured in what authorities are calling a “use-of-force incident” in Moorhead on Monday night.

According to an initial account from Moorhead police, officers responded to a disturbance on the 2400 block of Third Avenue North, on the city’s east side, just before 9 p.m.

“As the situation evolved, Moorhead police requested mutual aid, and the Red River Valley SWAT Team was deployed to assist,” police said in a news release. “During the course of the response, officers were involved in a critical incident. No law enforcement personnel were injured, but two other individuals sustained injuries.”

Moorhead police said there’s no ongoing threat to public safety, and that it asked the Minnesota BCA “to lead the investigation, in accordance with standard protocol.”

But as of Tuesday morning, authorities had not released any further details about the people who were injured, their conditions or how they were hurt.

The BCA confirmed its personnel were on the scene on Tuesday morning.
